Retention issues
Problem: Exceptional deal-maker, great at client and technical side of business, needed help with managing talent and working in a shared leadership role. His co-head was straining under the client’s inability to retain high potential direct reports. Many would come to work for him because of his reputation in the business and leave because of his behavior.
Solution: With coaching, feedback, values clarification and cost benefit analysis, executive was able to better assess his needs and abilities, make appropriate hires and create an organization around him that better suited his strengths. He changed what he could and got clearer about what worked for him and the organization. His co-head was able to step out of her role and move to a higher position with greater responsibilities. His team was able to grow and develop with a stronger sense of the future and their place in it.
